On 14 February 2026, the Eurofence League stage in London, Great Britain, brought together a competitive international field in men’s and women’s foil. The British stop once again confirmed its role as a dynamic platform within the circuit, combining technical quality with tactical maturity across both events.
In the men’s foil competition, Italy claimed a remarkable collective result. Matteo Iacomoni secured victory after a composed and controlled final, overcoming Croatia’s Petar Files, who delivered a confident performance throughout the day. The podium was completed by two more Italian athletes, Raian Adoul and Djibril Mbaye, underlining the depth and consistency of Italian foil at this stage of the season.
The women’s foil event saw an equally strong Italian presence. Carlotta Ferrari emerged as the winner after a decisive final against Aurora Grandis, ensuring an all-Italian gold and silver outcome. Sophie Bardes and Margherita Lorenzi shared the third place, turning the London podium into a full Italian statement and highlighting the nation’s technical sharpness and competitive rhythm in the discipline.

Budapest Highlights Hungarian Sabre Tradition
Simultaneously, from 14 to 15 February 2026, Budapest hosted the sabre stage of the Eurofence League, reaffirming Hungary’s deep connection with the weapon and its continued strength at international level.
In the men’s sabre competition, Kornel Pech of Hungary’s Vasas club claimed the gold medal after a focused and tactically disciplined campaign. Bulgaria’s Todor Stoychev finished second, demonstrating resilience and competitive determination throughout the direct elimination rounds. The bronze medals went to Szabolcs Noseda and Benedek Dallos, both representing Hungary, further reinforcing the host nation’s dominance on home soil.
The women’s sabre event maintained the Hungarian momentum. Sugar Katinka Battai delivered a commanding performance to secure first place, ahead of Kira Keszei in an all-Hungarian final. The podium was completed by Marleen Buitenhuis of the Netherlands and Hungary’s Luca Szucs, reflecting both local excellence and international participation.
